Difficult day and a new leader in the Optis

Only one race has been sailed today and a new leader appears in the Optis after applying the discard, Grange Artaud (SUI). María Bover and Clara Llabrés, first in 420 class.

The third day of the 66 Trofeo Ciutat de Palma has been another difficult day for the organisation and for the sailors. the wind from the East increased up to 11 knots but did not establish and due to the constant windshifts, only one race has been sailed for the Optimist, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 y 420. The racing area was set for 110º, but when the fleet was about to start a sudden windshift to 80º forced the race committee to cancel that start. As it was almost four oclock, and the very soft conditions, the Committee decided to cancel the race and send all the boats back to the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP)

The only race of the day has produced a little bit of hassle in the optis, although the class is still lead by international sailors. The swiss Grange Artaud, who finished third today is leader with 12 points, over the Italian Massimiliano Antoniazzi, who is now fourth after finishing tenth today.

Sebastián Riquelme (MEX) climbs up to the second position due to his second place today whilst Malthe Ebdrup, (DEN) is third. As expected and with the discard Helena Wolff (DEN)  now is in the Top Five. Mewes Wieduwild, today was not so lucky finishing and fall out of the podium.

The best Spanish sailor in the Optimist is the sailor from the south of Spain, Manuel Alvarez, from the Club Náutico de Puerto Sherry, in seventh place, and the first balearic sailor is Pau Mesquida Barceló, from the Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA)

The 420 class also has changed leader after the discard. María Bover and Clara Labres (RCNP-CNA), sailed and proved once again, that with light winds they are the fastest. Second place for Marc Lladó and Antoni Massanet (RCNP), who feel better in stronger wind conditions and the new crew formed by Melsion Rosselló and Arturo Madero (RCNP), two young sailors who climb up for the first time amongst the three first places in an such an important event as the 66 TCP.

Matías Rodrigo, of the Club Náutico de Ibiza still leads in Laser 4.7. After todays first place he has all the options of winning his first Trofeo Ciutat de Palma, with four points over the second placed Andreu Jaime of the Club de Vela Port d’Andratx (CVPA)  and seven points ahead of his team mate Martina Magri (also from the CVPA)

The Laser Radial class has a new leader, Luis Cabot (Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa) with a sixth place discard is now in front of his opponent Andreu Juan. Mario Plomer (CVA) keeps his third place.

Tomorrow, last competition day of the 66 Trofeo Ciutat de Palma, will begin at 10.30 till 15.30 h, and will be crucial in most of the classes. Today's journey farewelled the sailors with another warm snack and a concert by Daisy C, a young local talent.
